Calling Vietnam vets.?
What were your favorite songs while you were in country?
I'm trying to compile some lists. My favorites so far, "Proud Mary" (Creedence Clearwater Revival), "We've Got to Get Out of This Place" (The Animals), "Detroit City" (Bobby Bare), "Green Green Grass of Home" (Tom Jones) and "House of the Rising Sun" (The Animals.)
What songs were popular depended on when you were there. Often you heard them played by Filipino or Aussie bands if you heard them performed live. We also had reel to reel tape recorders and sometimes record players, but usually tapes.
"We've Got to Get Out of This Place" and "Detroit City" ("I Wanna Go Home") were almost sure to get a houseful of GIs singing along.
Do you have other favorites? For me it's been 36 years. These are the ones I can remember best. I can close my eyes and see the bands that played them.
By the way if you aren't a Vietnam vet and get a chance to listen to these songs, check 'em out. Some really good stuff here.
Although I was born in the seventies, I would only contribute my two cent's worth. Everytime I hear "Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones, "California Dreaming" by The Mamas and the Papas and "If You're Going To San Francisco", the first thing that comes to my mind is the Vietnam War.
I myself am a big fan of the oldies. In fact, the only music that I play in my classic volkswagen beetle are hits of the 70's and the 60's like the songs of Chubby Checker, The Temptations, The Association, The Byrds (Turn, turn, turn...) and their contemporaries.

Fantastic hair, eh? There's a 1965 clip on here of “It's Not Unusual” where he has marvy hair, check it out. AFAIK, Tom rarely lip-synched, so this is the real deal; the man has amazing pipes.

Answers to last questions on “You're So Trivial!”
The two artists from Wales to do Bond songs were Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. The only artist to do more than one Bond theme was Shirley Bassey, in fact she did three starting with Goldfinger (1965), Diamonds Are Forever (1972) and Moonraker(1979). The other Welshman, Tom Jones gave us Thunderball in 1966 and he asked what the lyrics meant. The Bond movie producers insisted that the title of each film be in the lyrics. Frank Sinatra's daughter, Nancy, did You Only Live Twice in 1967.
Former Beatle, Paul McCartney with his band Wings did Live and Let Die in 1973 creating a great Bond tune and a top ten hit for Wings. Duran Duran did A View to a Kill in 1985. Sorry, no winners, only BigK even tried with his incomplete answer.

pfft…lol…people are stupid…i KNEW that mcfly sang this song and someone else did…it doesn't take a rocket scientist…lol…by the way, i LOVE new found glory's version….i haven't heard it before, but i like how it is more upbeat…and good job with the vids, very well put together…

If you knead some green colouring into a ready roll block icing, then freeze it until it's hard, you should be able to grate it, and then you'll get strands that you can heap around the bunny. Try it with a little bit of icing first, just to make sure it works OK.
OR you could melt white chocolate and stir in some green colouring, leave it to set and then grate that instead. Or white it's still melted, drizzle it in zig zags all over (onto tin foil) so that when it's set you can peel it off, break it up a bit and have squiggles of green grass-like chocolate.
