I know that most Americans can't understand English people, so I wonder if you can understand the people in this clip.
This is a clip from "Only Fools And Horses," one of the biggest comedies in England. I always thought that Only Fools And Horses would never have been a hit in America because you guys probably wouldn't have understood the humor, or even the language. So, can you understand what they are saying? I think they are speaking clearly, but do you?
Yes, we have plenty of American shows in England. Also, in England bloke means guy, or man.
At 0:57 he says "yeah, I have."
yeah. i knew what they said. the only thing i didnt understand was the name, but that was it. probably because i didnt recognize it or because i overheard it. i actually had a friend who is from england and they had a similar accent to the australians in the sydney area (i went to sydney). the main reason probably is because of the wording. like, instead of saying blok, we would say looser or fool. also, do you guys have shows that are from here? i know that there are your own versions and that happens here too. we make our own version of other country's shows. thats how many shows in many countries are formed too. like, you guys have x factor and from that, we made american idol.
jay you douche bag, i was just asking a question because he was also wondering why it wasnt in america so i think it might be called something different. get bent jerk-off!
does bloke really mean guy? well, you learn new things every day. whenever i hear it, it seems that people use it to make fun of someone or call them something bad, so i assumed it meant a bad name.
what are the best scenesscriptline from Only Fools And Horses?

Rodney: "It won't be like the old days will it Del, us out pulling birds ?"
Del Boy: "We never pulled no birds in the old days Rodney! What chance do you think we've got now ?"
Can't remember the episode, one of the more recent ones though.
Concordo com a lista, mas a minha nunca teria a Buffy, Scrcubs, Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Angel, Only Fools and Horses, Red Dwarf, Life on Mars,Spaced e Deadwood, incluíria no seu lugar sem dúvida ,Knight Rider, MacGyver, Mission: Impossible, All in the Family, Will&Grace, Mad About You, Space: 1999, Greys Anatomy, Dr House e por ultimo Brothers&sisters.
My favourite shows come from the UK… Peep Show, Inbetweeners, IT Crowd, Shameless, Fawlty Towers, Only fools and horses, Men behaving badly, Bottom… Ahhh the list goes on.
I absolutely agree about getting out and seeing things. I'm from the UK and our usual holiday over here is to go to a beach resort in the Mediteranian and sit in an English pub drinking english beer while watching “only fools and horses” (British sitcom).I recently went to Crete and did much the same thing. I yearn to visit a rainforest or see some buddhist temples or something similar. I'm determined to go somewhere more exotic next year – see you all there!
